Quality, Affordable Evidence-Based Mental Health Care for all.
Our program works to provide care.
Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) experience mental health challenges at similar rates as white people, but they are less likely to receive treatment. Even in instances where individuals seek treatment, many encounter limited resources and may not receive the quality care they require. We have established the mental health division of this organization and developed a therapy program aimed at addressing and enhancing the following areas:
-
BIPOC communities have historically faced social inequalities and discrimination, which can adversely affect their mental health.
-
Individuals from BIPOC backgrounds often encounter challenges in accessing quality mental health care.
-
Cultural beliefs, coupled with a lack of cultural competency among mental health providers, can hinder BIPOC individuals from receiving appropriate treatment.
-
There exists a prevalent stigma within BIPOC communities surrounding the act of seeking help for mental health issues.
-
Many BIPOC individuals may harbor mistrust towards healthcare systems and treatment options.
-
The financial burden associated with mental health services can serve as a significant barrier.
-
There is often a shortage of mental health professionals from diverse backgrounds.
-
Experiences of racism and bias within healthcare settings can foster mistrust and discourage individuals from pursuing treatment.
