Prioritizing, Promoting and Advocating the mental and physical health and wellness of BIPOC individuals.
We strive to create a world where all people of color have access to quality resources and care, affording them equal opportunity to thrive mentally and physically, fostering well-being.
Our Cause
-
Through our health and wellness, youth development, and racial equity programs, we are dedicated to empowering individuals from underserved communities by providing them with essential tools and resources to enhance both mental and physical well-being. Concurrently, we strive to address and mitigate systemic racism and biases that create barriers to these opportunities.
Although BIPOC individuals have achieved significant success and advancement in recent history, they continue to encounter numerous barriers. Our programs and initiatives address many areas such as:
-
In 2022, suicide was the third leading cause of death for Black or African Americans ages 10 to 24
-
80% Black Americans report being concerned about the stigma associated with mental illness, which discourages them from seeking treatment.
-
The Black community comprises approximately 40% of the homeless population, 50% of the prison population, and 45% of children in the foster care system.
-
The suicide rate for Black or African American men was more than four times higher than for Black or African American women.
African American females in grades 9–12 were 60% more likely to attempt suicide in 2021 than non-Hispanic white females of the same age.
-
50%-75% of youth in the juvenile justice system meet the criteria for a mental health disorder.
